Showhouse Garden – Edgware
Construction of show house garden
DF Clark Design Team
Raised block planters, sawn sandstone paving, canvas sails, planting, wall art & pots
Boards were laid over the grassed open space access route to minimise grass damage. Preparation works within the garden were carried out to make good and set the levels of the existing type 1 build-up laid by others, following this the raised planters were constructed of breeze blocks giving rise to the first element of the design. At this stage shoes to take the removable sail poles were concreted into place within the paving build up.
The following day the first part of the paving was laid starting at patio doors of the building, in the meantime the top soil to the planters was brought in and plants planted, ensuring all soil work was complete to minimise mess.
Once the planters were top soiled and planted, and the paving finished up to the retaining planter walls, the block work was clad in the same sandstone completing the paving to the whole garden. Cuts in the sandstone within the main patio were made to take the canvas sail posts and the sails were erected.
Lastly the patio furniture was bought in, uncovered and set in place while holes were drilled into the mortar joints of the brick works boundary walls and exterior canvas wall art was hung.
