D F Clark were appointed to design and build the show house garden at Land Charter’s latest housing development. The garden needed to reflect the quality of the development and demonstrate what could be achieved in a similar space.
The garden is separated into two distinct areas. A slate and marble chip finished patio adjoins the house to provide alfresco dining and a multi-functional hard landscape feature area, with a sculptural timber arbour flanked by raised plinths to showcase artwork and provide informal seating within the garden.
The sculptural timber arbour leads onto the lawn area that is surrounded by raised timber sleeper planting beds. The planting softens the boundary fencing and provides texture and colour. Laser cut sheet metal panels located with the planted beds introduces height and creates areas of interest.
An elevated timber pergola is located in the southern corner of the garden to provide a feature sun deck, surrounded by planting to enhance privacy and provide a sense of enclosure.
